Workbench CMS Interface & Interaction Documentation

For Palantir.net

Workbench is a suite of content management modules for Drupal maintained by the folks at Palantir. It features fully customizable workflows and access control, and is well suited for large-scale institutions such as museums and colleges. The work featured here includes extensive user interface improvements and is proposed for the next iteration of modules.

Eby-Brown Corporate Website

For StudioNorth

Eby-Brown is a privately owned convenience store supplier based in Naperville, IL. They wanted a complete overhaul of their website and the ability to manage and add content on their own. The site was built in Drupal and feature-rich, with jquery sliders, an interactive map, a contact form, embedded video, and a job board.

First Midwest Bank Website

For StudioNorth

As lead designer on this project I developed the overall look and feel but worked closely with a team of art directors and developers to bring the site to life. It is CMS-driven, has three distinct sections — personal banking, business banking and wealth management — as well as some rich content like this jQuery checking account advisor and an ATM locator.

Changes That Last a Lifetime Website

For StudioNorth

A website for an employer-sponsored healthy living program. The site features testimonials used to motivate prospective enrollees, so accordingly, I designed the homepage banner to swap excerpts from people's actual success stories. The design is clean, simple and approachable in the hopes that it will inspire someone to change their life for the better.

Discover Dashboard Interface

For StudioNorth

A dashboard, built as a Flex desktop application, to tie into an existing framework of tools. It aids the account representative during the collections process by displaying pertinent customer information and talking points in real time during phone call, and facilitating the scheduling of a payment. The reps said they found it easy to use and likened it to a video game... music to my ears!

SmallTabs Identity and Website

SmallTabs is a venture that I'm working on with a couple of friends. It's a website devoted to daily food and drink specials for Chicago bars. I designed the logo, consulted on the the site architecture and user experience, and am currently working hard on the next iteration of the site which will feature a responsive design.

I.J.M. Annual Report

For StudioNorth

The International Justice Mission is a non-profit organization that seeks to end crimes against humanity such as slavery and sex trafficking, in underdeveloped parts of the world. This piece was a concept for their printed annual: one part financial report, one part a recruiting piece.

About

Patrick Allen Grady is a graduate from the University of Illinois design program with a love of all things web. He has professional interests in responsive CSS grids, designing in the browser, CSS3, SASS, HTML5, Git Version Control, web typography, interaction design, and usability. He is an appreciator of great type and a lover of visual systems. A music buff. A sucker for sci-fi, alternate histories, and bunk science. A mac fanboy. A Jeep lover. A golf noob. A gamer. A comic book geek. And a connoisseur of "fancy" (read: delicious) beer.

This site was built on a lightweight, responsive, 12-column CSS fluid grid of my own design called the Flexible Grid Foundation. It's lightweight, easy to implement, easy to modify, and free to use.
